Developing Your Lesson Plans

As a homeschooling parent you are acutely aware of how important it is to have daily plans and be organized. Everyone has their own methods and tactics. And most of these plans certainly werent perfect right out of the gate and have evolved over time.

As homeschoolers one of the greatest benefits is that of having great flexibility with how you educate your child. But even with this great educational flexibility you shouldnt really be sailing without a compass.

When it comes to educating, that compass is your lesson plan.

Although homeschooling generally doesnt require exacting lesson plans to be turned in, however, not having one at all certainly isnt a good approach to your childs education.

Lets take a look at some general concepts and commonalities about lesson plans that may assist you in developing yours.

First of all, you have to start your thinking with what it is you are going to teach. From there, youll need what your objectives for the lesson are. In other words, youll want to be able to observe specific behaviors your child is going to be able to do or perform as a result of your teaching. You want the outcomes of your teaching to be measurable and quantifiable; so the more specific the better it will be.

With this in mind youll want to be descriptive with your objectives. This not only provides feedback on how your child is progressing, but it also gives you as the educator great feedback on your effectiveness. You should also have some sort of description or statement of how you will determine whether your lesson plan objectives have been met.

Take some time to determine what your child already knows about the subject matter and what it is they need to know (prerequisites) in order to successfully complete the lessons.

As you are making your first pass at your lesson plan, be sure to include somewhere in it any materials you will need to accomplish the objectives that you have described. Materials not only necessary for the lessons themselves; but be sure to include any materials you may need for the evaluation process.

Of course your lesson plans will include much greater detail than is given here, but just to get you started here is a quick outline or review of the thought process that goes into putting a lesson plan together.

Determine what it is you are going to teach and what the priority outcomes of your teaching will be what your child will be able to do as a result of completing the work and the activities contained in your lesson plan.

Determine what it is your child already knows about this subject matter or will need to know. Having a grasp on this will allow for a smooth transition into your current planning and into the next or related level of the subject.

Have a plan on how you are going to facilitate the learning of this subject matter. Be sure to think about any materials that you will need, such as manipulative objects for your child.

And finally, have a method of evaluation; both for the behavior of the child and the effectiveness of your lesson plan and your teaching techniques.

Once you make the loop a few times through the lesson planning process youll soon develop a template that works best for you. Using a detailed lesson plan will greatly increase the efficiency of your teaching as well as the quality of the childs learning time.

Negative Side to Conventional Cosmetics

Women and men spend millions of dollars every year attempting to improve the quality and health of their skin. They spend time and money on products and services to refinish the surface of their skin only to return to habits and routines that continue to damage both their skin and bodies. Most cosmetic and beauty products contain additives, preservatives, and chemicals designed to improve appearances at the cost of health. Not only do conventional cosmetics clog pores and weigh down skin, they also contain harmful toxins that absorb into the blood stream and into the body.

Companies create conventional cosmetics and beauty products using oils and fillers that weigh down skin and clog the pores. Although some of these products create the appearance of smooth, even skin, bacteria and dirt become trapped in the skin by the oils in conventional cosmetics and create pimples and blemishes. Most men and women then resort to even more cosmetic use to cover up these skin problems, resulting in an even greater incidence of clogged pores. Skin absorbs the oils and fillers in conventional cosmetics resulting in makeup that literally weighs down the face. Not only does foundation and powder look heavy, it also feels heavy. This heavy feeling results from not just the skins absorption of the product, but also the inability of the skin to breath.

The heavy binders and fillers of conventional cosmetics also contain chemical additives that are harmful to the body. Conventional beauty products such as foundation, blush, eye shadow, and bronzer contain a myriad of binders, toxins and dyes that absorb into the blood stream. A build up of such chemicals can produce allergic reactions and increased sensitivity in some men and women. Some of these allergies and sensitivities can result in chronic conditions and sustained sensitivity to conventional dyes, cosmetics and perfumes. Hypoallergenic products have risen as a result of consumers needs to use products less harmful on the body. Although most of these products still contain fillers that clog skin, the rise of products for sensitive skin proves that consumers have reacted poorly to conventional cosmetics.

Naked Minerals contains no additives, dyes, colors, fillers, binders, waxes, or any other ingredient beyond natural minerals. The Naked Minerals makeup is all-natural and uses only the finest minerals to create a cosmetic that improves skin appearance and quality without clogging pores. There are no oils in Naked Minerals that traditionally clog pores, and the weightless feel and function of Naked Minerals allows skin to breathe. Naked Minerals is completely hypoallergenic with none of the toxins or chemicals traditionally found in conventional cosmetics. All of the colors are naturally derived from their mineral origin and none contain the heavy oils found in conventional cosmetics.

How To Install Vinyl Sliding Door For Your Kitchen

In today's world, it seems that almost any topic is open for debate not only for the subject that is in people interested. Many of home owners tend to learn about how to fix their house by themselves. It was quite surprised to find some of the issues I thought were settled are actually still being openly discussed. I trust that what you've read from this article is very informative. The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain.

There are plenty of good reasons why you should have vinyl sliding door for your kitchen. Most of kitchen generally has an ordinary door but it is absolutely a good idea to replace it with vinyl sliding door. Vinyl sliding door could help to improve overall appearance of the kitchen as well as improve function of the kitchen. That is, use sliding door is very convenient. This is because kitchen is an optional room for many of houses and usually has limited space. Using sliding door can save great amount of space when you open the door, as a result, you will gain more space to locate additional kitchen furniture and equipment. The following detail will describe about how to replace vinyl sliding door to your kitchen, so you can apply method described below and you can do it yourself.

Getting to know frame of vinyl door is still essential, the retrofit frame is the most common type of vinyl kitchen door frame. The retrofit frame is pretty much the same as retrofit window, the door will have a 2" lip flush with the outside edge of the frame. Generally space for kitchen door will be a bit larger than normal space for door of other room in the house, so before you start, you have to make sure that you have measured all sides of the stile and get the exact side of the frame that you need.

The process of installation of retrofit frame for your kitchen is the same as replacement frame. In fact, you have to check all conditions within the kitchen before you start the installation. The first thing that you have to examine is the level of kitchen floor. If the base is not level, add shims to create a level base. You should know that this process is very important as I have seen many of home owners or even professionals forget to measure the level of the floor which usually cause the whole frame will be thrown out of square in case if you have inconsistent floor level, i.e. sloping floor.

Especially for a kitchen floor which many of home owner love to use tiles as flooring material. If they did not properly design the level and slope of the floor, it would be difficult when they want to replace kitchen door. If you find that the kitchen floor is not properly designed and sloping, you may have to use shim to make the base of the door strong enough to support the doors weight. Another important process is when you put the door in place also very important and these are only some tips about how you can improve the quality and appearance of the kitchen by yourself.

Website Creation: 5 Point Plan to Keep Sane and Get Your First WebSite on the Internet

HELP! Get Me Started Online Now!
5 Short Steps to Getting Your Own Site on the Internet
By Simon Loveday

Anyone wanting to start out on the Internet, although perfectly capable offline, may feel like a dummy when it comes to starting out online. Just the sheer volume of competing and distracting information available is enough to get you banging your head on the table in frustration.

There is just so much but it often fails to consider the position of the complete beginner's question, 'Where do I start?'

This is something the pros who have grown up with and often made the Internet what it is today do not consider when they expound ever more complex strategies and the latest of the advanced pieces of software. Novices, however, need a clear and simple path to follow so that they can get some experience behind them and the confidence to adopt the more esoteric possibilities that abound.

So, what is the first thing to do?

Well, the order is debatable, but we can break the process down into just 5 Clear Steps.

1. First, you really do need to think about what your intentions are and what you hope to do online. Iff, for example, you merely want to have your thoughts recorded for posterity - or a group of friends, then a blog (think online diary) could well the way to start. Usually free to use and maintain, they are the simplest and quickest way to begin. If you are thinking of something more 'businesslike' then, read on.

2. For someone hoping to operate a business or community site -and assuming you are not an expert of HTML (the basic language of the web), you will need to get yourself a sensible piece of site building software. Free is possible, but be prepared for no or slow customer support and bugs that do not get fixed or attended to promptly. (You will also find that 'free' often means expenses elsewhere - either in 'additional services' that are often included in the commercial packages or limitations that have to be overcome. And your time, remember, should not be counted as free, viz Economics 101.) Rather, a robust and supported software is preferable, as well as one that does not require a PhD in Computing to follow the manual.

3. Next, you will need to think of a name for your site. Once you've done that, get it registered at a domain registration service. This should cost no more than a yearly fee of $10 (down from $70 or more just a few years ago!).

4. Now, you will need a reliable 'hosting' company. This is essentially another set of computers -'servers' - that make your site accessible 24/7 to other computer users. Monthly packages are available and are probably the best as you are not locked into a poor service for long and they have to work hard to maintain customer satisfaction. Think around $10 a month for this. You will then transfer your new domain name to the hosting company if they are different.

5. Finally, you will 'upload' your site to your hosting company. This is the scariest part of all for newcomers - I know, I was worried that if I made a mistake I would possibly blow-up my hosting company's system when I first tried. LOL. They have rebuilt, now, though, I hear.

There, 5 Steps to Getting Online! Essentially, that is what it is all about. Alright. I know. The devil is in the details. But at least you now know what to look for. I wish I had understood that when I was starting out. But now you do, so go to it. Good Luck.

Properly Cleaning Your Computer

A regular cleaning of your computer means a considerable improvement in its effectiveness. You should dedicate 20-30 minutes every 3 months to clean your computer. Here are a few tips:

- Computer keyboard cleaning. Your keyboard gathers a lot of dust and dirt. The keys become sticky and slow down your speed. First, unplug the keyboard when you clean it.

Turn it upside down and shake well to remove crumbs and dirt. Clean the keys using a soft brush or a can of compressed air while holding it upside down. Clean the key tops with a damp cotton cloth using either a mild detergent or rubbing alcohol.

Do not spill liquid over it. If you do so, then wipe it off immediately and let it dry completely. It is a smart idea to keep your keyboard and monitor covered with a cloth when you are not using them.

- Cleaning computer mouse. Take off the cover at the back of the mouse by rotating it anti-clockwise. The ball will come out. There are two thin wheels. Use your fingertips to scratch out the dust that is sticking there. Also shake out dirt that gathers in the hole.

You can wipe the wheels with a mild cleaning agent. Wipe off the ball well with a wet cloth. Use a mild detergent to clean the outside of the mouse. Dry with a soft cloth. Put the ball back into your mouse and close it up.

- Cleaning computer monitor. Use a cloth dampened in water. Do not use detergent or other liquid. Be careful especially with laptop screens that are very sensitive. The strokes should be top to bottom. Paper cloths are highly recommended for monitor screens to avoid any damage.

You can use a mild detergent for the cover. For holes at the back of the cover use an air can spray to take out dust. These vents should be cleaned to avoid overheating of the monitor.

- Remove the case and get to the area where all the hardware parts are located. Cleaning this area is important. Use an air spray to blow out all the dust gathered here. Always ensure that the spray is held in an upright position and blow the dust out of the machine. Everything should be unplugged and avoid any physical contact with the components.

- For CD-ROM drive use a CD-ROM cleaner available with retailers. Cleaning the CD drive prevents reading and writing errors. To clean your CDs just wet a cloth in water and rub it from center to the edge to avoid any scratches.

Infidelity Discovered: Why He/She Won't Tell Me the Truth?

Upon discovery of infidelity there is often a strong need to know the details. What happened? When? Where? Why? etc. The reasons for these questions are examined in my first article on this subject: "Infidelity: Why the Need to Know is so Strong."

You have the need to know, but his/her lips are sealed or walks away, ignores or bypasses your questions, puts it back on you, denies or does other numbers on you to keep you away from knowing what really happened. There are predictable reasons why this happens. Here's some of them:

1. Your partner/spouse is involved in an "I don't want to say no" affair. Your partner probably is a person wrapped up in his own ego, personal needs, and life style. He can rationalize the behavior and actually come to the conclusion that he is entitled to get his needs met this way. After all, he is such a magnanimous person! Bottom line: your needs and concerns really don't matter! He doesn't want to talk about them and sees absolutely no reason to get "bogged down" in what is important to you.

2. Your spouse/partner is involved in an "I can't say no" affair. Your partner finds it painfully difficult to respond to your need to know out of shame and guilt. She sees, at one level, her actions becoming more and more destructive and degrading and believes, again at an unspoken level usually, that she has less and less control over her actions. Guilt and shame follow the infidelity with self-promises to break off the behavior. However, these promises are usually broken. She is ashamed for you to know this struggle.

3. Your partner/spouse is involved in a "revenge" affair. He wants you to squirm. This may not be front and center in his consciousness, but just below the surface is some resentment and anger, for whatever reason, aimed in your direction. He thinks: "Hmmmm this is payback time. Good. Now she knows what it's like to be on the receiving end. I'll continue this for a while...and secretly enjoy her torment. I won't give her the satisfaction of responding in a caring way to her needs."

4. Your partner/spouse is involved in an affair with the intent upon proving her desirability. In some cases where there is a history of sexual abuse as a child, or rape as an adult, your partner may compartmentalize the "affair" to the degree that she might not consciously remember the details or events of her infidelity. The infidelity may serve in a pre-conscious fashion as an attempt to amend for the painful sexual history. She may NOT indeed remember what you ask for.

5. Your partner/spouse is involved in affairs such as: " I fell out of love" or "My Marriage Made Me Do It" or "I Want to be Close to Someone...but can't stand intimacy." Often, the infidelity in these cases represents the need to deal with dependency issues. By that I mean, your partner may define himself in terms of how others respond to him rather than his inner values, standards, purpose, etc. This person's life is wrapped around others. And his life is still wrapped around you. You want to know. He doesn't tell you... for fear of "hurting you" or becoming embroiled in pain or conflict from which he cannot seemingly extricate. What you (or others) think, feel and how you respond are TOO important to him.

As you see, the reasons for not getting the information you need for your own sense of validation and acknowledgement are varied and fairly complex. Allow yourself to stand back and examine the themes and patterns you encounter. With the power of this knowledge you gain the freedom to use different strategies and tactics to work toward resolution.

Do You Use These 6 Clear Set Criteria In Selecting An Internet Home Business?

Are you spending hours and hours everyday in front of your computer looking for an internet home business? Without clear set criteria, you are simply wasting your time and most likely will fall on a spurious opportunity or an outright scam. With the hundreds of internet home businesses available online, you will literally freeze as to which of these you would join.

Listed below are the most important factors you should consider when choosing your internet home business.

1) Are people buying from this internet home business? Would there be people prepared to pay for this product or service? You may have a very good product with every bells and whistles included in it, but if nobody is buying, then what good is that in your business? How do you know that people are buying? Well, if the business has been running for a while, most likely, people are still buying the product or service. If it's a newer product then you'll have to use your guts. If you buy something and feel good about it then the likelihood is high that there will be a lot more people that will feel just as good as you did about buying it.

More competitors on the product or service would mean that you are in a viable market and you'll just have to learn to be good at selling or promoting your product or service. There are many internet home businesses in which you don't have to sell anything. Some of the best internet home businesses don't even require you to sell a product. How is this done? You simply refer potential customers to a company and get paid a commission on each customer you refer or who buys. What makes this kind of business extremely attractive is that you don't have to deal with customer support, product delivery or any of the normal home business troubles.

2) Training and Support. One of the most important aspects of any business system, especially if its new to you, is training and support. At least there should be an email address or a phone number to contact if you need personal help. Some internet home businesses provide a web based training and support to their members. The advantage of the web based training and support is that it is readily available anywhere and anytime as long as there is an internet connection. The training system and support should show all there is to know to make money on the internet and should also be easy to follow.

3) Little Experience Needed. The lack of technical knowledge greatly increases failure rates in internet home business. Imagine a mom whose only experience is tending the family, she decides to start an internet business, the next day, she is introduced to css, html, pop-ups, php, blog, merchant account, hosting, autoresponder, sales copy, etc. Instead of simply marketing her business, she would be buried into the technical stuff. A good internet home business should only require a little experience, say; a working knowledge of the internet and operating a computer should be enough.

4) Income Potential. Will this internet business bring in real money for you? Hey, were talking of business here not hobby. So the income potential should not be low. Another thing to inquire is if the income potential sustainable. You may get plenty of sales this month but what about the months that follow? Does it offer multiple streams of income so that when one income stream closes, there are still plenty left? Is the income recurring, that is, you get money every month? A good example is web hosting and subscription based sites. Every month you get paid.

5) Can Be Done Part-Time: This is very important because a lot of programs out there say they're the perfect part time business but the only way to get any real results is to do it full time. The main reasons you are embarking on an internet home business is the money and freedom that it brings. Freedom to spend your time at things you love. The internet home business you will choose should not tie you up in front of your computer for hours and hours. A good internet home business is pretty automated. Once you set things up, the business runs by itself. You spend a couple of hours a day, tweak and change some things, then leave the system to run.

When talking about internet home business, the second thing that comes to your mind, after money, is the lifestyle. Think of it, if you have to spend 8-10 hours per day in your internet home business, it doesnt leave much time for fun. That would be more of a job.

6) Company History: With so many scams out there, one thing to look for is a stable opportunity. Look for a business that has been around for a while, say 2 years. Well, there are new opportunities that are worthwhile but you should prefer for an internet home business that has been successful. You are going to invest your own money here so better be sure. You can go to search engines and check. Check the forums. Call the owner over the phone. Send an email to the owner and ask about the business.

These are the six basic things by which you measure an internet home business. Obviously, there are other things but the ones mentioned above are the critical starting points which when used would result in a good business decision.

High Definition DVD The Format Wars Second Act

Once again, there is a technology format war looming on the horizon. Many people dont remember the VHS - Betamax battle that broke out when video players were first introduced, making it possible for people to watch movies at home. This was a case of two non-compatible technologies, each of which was a format for taping full length feature films. Ultimately VHS won out, and the movie companies put out their products in that format thus dooming Betamax and the product manufacturers that had adopted their technology, not to mention the thousands of consumers that had invested in Betamax players. We now find ourselves on the verge of creating a new set of sore losers.

Skirmishes over LCD versus plasma screen HD TV technology are ongoing, but that type of technology contest isnt as acute because you can watch TV or a movie on either type of screen. Currently, you can also play every DVD available on any DVD player that is in production and on the market. The next generation of DVD players, however, is coming over the horizon in the form of two distinct and incompatible technologies.

Toshiba versus Sony

Toshiba has developed a proprietary technology dubbed high definition DVD (HDDVD) and to support their format has developed alliances with Microsoft and Universal Films, among others. The HDDVD disks will be available in 15GB and two sided, 30GB versions.

By way of comparison, the current DVDs have enough storage for two hours of standard definition (SD) images, while the one-sided 15 gigabyte HDDVD disk can store up to eight hours of high definition (HD) images. The difference between SD and HD is simply twice the number of pixel lines displayed on the screen in the HD format, thus providing a crisper picture. The increased capacity of these disks will also allow for interactive features such as screen-in-screen directors discussion of movie scenes playing behind him that todays standard DVDs cannot support.

In the other corner is the Blu-Ray technology developed by Sony, who has lined up support from Apple, Disney and 20th Century Fox. Both formats use blue laser technology, which has a shorter wavelength than red, allowing it to read the smaller digital data "spots" packed a lot more densely onto a standard-size disc. Blu-Ray disks are designed to carry up to 50GB of digital material, which may mean that Sony wins the compression competition.

The Early Rounds

Sony Pictures released the first six films on Blu-Ray disks in June of this year, and have released a few more since. Samsung has a Blu-Ray DVD player in the stores, while Sonys hardware division has released a Blu-Ray compatible PC. Toshiba has its initial HDDVD player on the market and there are a limited number of titles available in the format, mostly re-releases of previous first-run features.

Sony clearly jumped out to an early lead, with support from Dell, HP, Mitsubishi and a number of other hardware manufacturers. In addition, Sony Pictures also owns Columbia and MGM, giving them an enormous library to work with. Sony will also fold its technology into the PlayStation 3 gaming machine, their proprietary product whose 2nd version rules the roost in the videogame market.

On the Toshiba side of the battlefield, proponents argue that the HDDVD disks will be cheaper to produce and that it will be comparatively easy for disk replicators to retrofit their equipment for production purposes. The HDDVD format also makes production of recordable DVDs much simpler than with the Blu-Ray design.

Further, an alliance with Microsoft will be a formidable edge in this battle, should it turn into a protracted conflict. Microsofts operating systems are going to be important cogs in the development of future home viewing systems, as the technology moves closer to merging the functions of computers and televisions. If movie downloads become a commercial success, PC compatibility will be critical for these disks.

The Consumer Issues

One of the reasons that Microsoft aligned with Toshibas technology is that HDDVD provides for mandatory managed copy. What that means is that unlike with today's conventional DVDs, managed copy allows consumers to make legitimate copies of their HD movies and enjoy this content around the home or across their personal networks. Making this feature mandatory will ensure a consistent consumer experience across all next-generation DVD content.

Then there is the element of iHD, which is the concept of maximizing high definition video for transport across the internet. This is a specific set of video specs which the iHD.org, a group of tech and media companies, is pushing as a cross-platform standard.

The theory is that next-generation HD movies will provide a level of interactive experience well beyond that of today's conventional DVDs. iHD technology is meant to provide a broad foundation to enable new interactivity with standards-based development tools and technologies.

The pitch for this standard is that it will provide consumers with enhanced content, navigation and functionality for HD films. The business reality is that Microsoft plans to implement iHD support in its Windows Vista operating system, which will not only be a significant step towards integrated video and computer systems but will make help drive adoption of the new Microsoft platform.

Duel to the Death Unlikely

There is some indication that all of these conflicting issues may ultimately force a compromise some sort of merger or unification of the two technologies. Hardware manufacturers are hedging their bets, with the latest wrinkle being that Blu-Ray-aligned Hewlett Packard has requested that mandatory managed copy and the iHD standard be included in Blu-Rays feature set. Sony has agreed to include the managed copy feature, but said no to iHD.

The Betamax VHS battle was a tussle over hardware with the movie companies playing a predominant role, one Sony lost. This time around, there is much more uncertainty about how the next generation of home video will roll out. How will the Web and the PC fit in? Will the movies be delivered via disk or via download? How will the film industry protect its content rights and how can the hardware companies maximize their role?

PCs have become a commodity. If a scenario arises where every household needs a new computer to match up with new video technology, the Dells and HPs of this world stand to win big. If competing technology keeps people from investing in either, every involved business will suffer. If the film and DVD houses have to produce two sets of content and two disks for every film, their margins will grow considerably thinner as well. The tech bloggers seem to be increasingly inclined to believe that unification of some sort is inevitable. The corporations with the most to lose are too smart not to insist on it.

Powering Up: What To Look For In Software To Drive Your Local Marketing Efforts

Next year estimates show that companies will spend approximately $950 million on e-mail marketing. Typically we think of e-marketing as the messages we receive in our inboxes from retailers or online vendors, such as Amazon.com, encouraging us to spend more money. More and more non-traditional marketers such as healthcare administrators, however, are using email to drive their business and build relationships and loyalty with their patients.

If patients receive any electronic communication from their health-care provider it is usually an invoice or, more often, to notify them about a problem with their insurance company or their payment. That doesnt create the warm, fuzzy and personalized feeling that we get from Amazon, does it? Amazon makes recommendations on books or movies we might enjoy based on our previous purchases and they address us by our name. They even remember our birthdays.

While Amazon is marketing different messages to consumers than a chiropractor would, the underlying principle is the same. E-mail works, so why arent more health-care providers jumping on board the e-marketing train?

It is simply that they dont know how to use e-mail marketing, understand the technology or how to take advantage of it to build loyalty with their patients. Integrating the right e-marketing tool into your overall communications plan can increase your patient referral base, turn your current patients into promoters of your business and easily provide both current and potential patients with the information and resources they desperately want.

Back to basicshow can I use e-mail to market locally?

Successful marketing goes well beyond an ad in the yellow pages. The best marketers use a combination of different communication vehicles to distribute their message and grow their business. They use their own patients, who are customers in this case, as advocates for their business encouraging them to spread the word to their network of friends and families. This type of marketing has been coined viral marketing.

Your patients will not just spread positive buzz about your practice on their own, they need a reason. The reason might be that you provide quality care, have a great rapport with patients, or that your staff is experienced and knowledgeable. These reasons are givenyou must have them to be successful. Todays patients and consumers want more.

Technology has advanced to a point where the general public wants to feel a personal connection and know that they are receiving service that goes beyond the norm. E-mail marketing helps you to provide that feeling. Like Amazon.com, it allows you to personalize the message to the consumer building a connection and forging a relationship.

But, what is your message? What can you send your patients that are not electronic invoices or a question about payment? Surprisingly, you have a lot of options.

One common, and easily implemented, practice is to develop and send a monthly e-newsletter or e-zine to all current patients with a link for them to forward it to their friends, colleagues and family members. The e-publication might feature updates on insurance laws that may impact patients, information about new treatments, or news about your practice. They are cost effective, easy to produce, measurable and will keep patients informed. They can also be personalized to the patient and can include lighter information such as introductions to staff members or highlights of charity work your practice does to create a link to the community.

Knowing is Half the Battle

Being aware of e-mail as a marketing tool and willing to incorporate it into your business development plans is an essential first step to taking advantage it. Learning how to harness this medium is the next step. It is one that is easily accomplished by knowing your audience and understanding that there are experts out there to help you.

E-mail Service Providers (ESPs) have unique expertise in building e-mail lists, developing compelling message content that will make your patient want to open and read the email, creating templates to add visual flare to the message, monitoring the results of the campaign, and staying compliant with Federal laws such as the CAN-SPAM act regulating e-marketing. They are professional marketers that allow you time to do your job, while they do theirs.

You should look for an ESP that fits your goals and facilitates a seamless transition to e-marketing. Ask potential ESPs these questions to help you make an informed decision.

Do you have a unique IP address for all your clients? An IP address is the unique identifier for every computer on the Internet. Many spammers use a single IP address to send mass e-mail messages violating the CAN SPAM Act. Premium ESPs offer their clients a unique IP address because it helps to increase the rate of delivery to the recipients. Shared IP addresses are common among discount ESPs however you will sacrifice deliverability since you are sharing your reputation with their other clients.

How can you help me reduce the chance my message will be flagged by a SPAM filter? Filters help protect recipients from receiving SPAM messages in their inbox by using trigger words, phrases or symbols to weed out junk email. An ESP should provide you with a tool to check your message for anything that might trigger a filter. If your message cant reach the recipient, the marketing campaign fails.

Does the ESP offer a free trial period? All reputable ESPs offer a penalty-free trial period so customers can review the features before making a decision.

Are the fees in line with industry standards? Most companies charge based on the number of messages sent by the user or the e-mail volume. For volumes under 10,000 e-mail transmissions you should not be paying more than $.03 per transmission depending on the features the ESP includes in the cost. Additional services such as graphic design or Web development are usually billed separately.

What is the duration of the ESPs contract? You should limit your contract to one year or less or have the ability to leave anytime you want to increase your organizations flexibility and management of your e-marketing program.

With just a little knowledge, you can power up and join the other industries benefiting from e-mail marketing.

Choosing Small Business Website Names

I disagree with the comment made by some web developers that all the good domain names are taken. Search engine optimization, or seo, does not depend heavily on the www name you select. For my clients just starting out the decision choosing small business website names has never been an issue. It is a fact that all the 3 character and 4 character domain names with the key extensions are taken. Furthermore, I agree that a vast number of choice domain names are no longer available; however, the selection of a suitable www domain for your small business is possible if you remain flexible.

The real value in the name you choose from a search perspective is how easy it is to spell and remember. Of the two types of visitors to your site, the human visitors and search engines, the ability of a person to remember your domain name and spell it correctly to pass it on to others outweighs any SEO value. Search engines are robots and don't care.

Using words like "greatest", "best", or other exaggerated terms in your domain name is thought by some to be a disadvantage and penalized by search engines. Search algorithms change often and likewise that theory, and although you may not be penalized for using such words, consider the reaction of your human visitors. They may not stick around if they feel you boast without the content to back it up. For a serious small business commercial enterprise, my advice is avoiding adjectives in the domain name entirely.

In some cases new clients approach me to redesign an existing website, and it surprises me that some of the basics are overlooked. For example, a commercial enterprise in business for profit should not select a dot ORG domain simply because the dot COM was taken. This was the case from a conversation with a client interested in a site makeover. Their ORG version was online for two years with little or no backlinks or serious indexing from search engines. The mindset of getting one particular name should be reconsidered especially if it's your first online venture.

Here's a breakdown of the most desirable domain extensions and the usual purpose of each:

COM - Commercial for profit enterprise
INFO - Information only related website
NET - Companies providing internet services
ORG - Non-profit organizations

Certainly there are many more like BIZ, US, WS, and others which are all reasonable choices, but for your commercial small business my recommendation is always acquire a dot COM www domain name. The client mentioned earlier did not realize a dot ORG was intended for a non-commercial enterprise, and they decided the poor website SEO performance was something that justified getting a new dot COM. We easily found an available www domain using their company initials and one key word about their target market which is medical. Despite my advice that they keep the existing site and simply change the theme, they decided to just let it go when it expired.

My commercial site choice was my first and last name, and very unique at that. Using your name is okay, and expected if you're famous. There is, however, little or no value as far as keywords in my www domain to attract visitors, so is that a mistake for search engine optimization? Certainly not. The fact that I have collected more than 100 screenshots of generic phrases relative to my business that made Google page one is evidence the content, not the domain, is key.

Here's some advice to help you when choosing a new dot COM small business website domain name.

Start out with a list of about 10 domain names that you would like to have. Next, make a list of market related single word terms about what you do and the customer base you service. If your market is localized, consider geographical terms that relate to where you sell or provide services. Spend 30 minutes brainstorming to come up with the initial names and additional lists of single word terms. You may want another list of significant initials.

Next, search for "WhoIs" in Google to find free online services that keep a database of available domain names, and follow the link in the search results. Each database has a search box which allows you to input the domain name and extension. Begin with your first choice and work down the list and keep track of available names for review later. It may not be easy, so try combinations of the key terms as you continue to search, and keep in mind you want a domain name that is easy to spell and remember. By the time you're done you should have a half dozen or more available names, so take your time and select the best one, and then register the name immediately.

Tip: The domain name may not be significant for search engine optimization, but the length of your registration can be. My advice is registering domains for 2 years minimum, and 5 to 10 years if that's in your budget. Search engines consider that the length of your registration reflects your commitment to be online long term, so at today's prices 5 years is practical and should cost less than $50 USD.

There's nothing wrong with getting the dot COM domain name you want, and then registering the other major extensions that are available for the same name. If you are highly successful in your online venture, having the other extensions registered in your name prevents others from attempting to take advantage of your reputation by association. In conclusion, the concept that all the good domain names are taken is a myth. You may not get exactly what you want, but practical options are available with a little research and due diligence.

Keyword Elite Review: Should You Buy Keyword Elite?

You may have heard of Brad Callen's Keyword Elite. If you are thinking of buying Keyword Elite then you need to read this honest and trustworthy Keyword Elite review. I went to the trouble and expense of downloading Keyword Elite software so that you don't have to. Make sure you read this Keyword Elite review before you spend a dime on Keyword Elite.

This Keyword Elite review starts with a bit of background about Keyword Elite. Keyword Elite, as with numerous internet marketing products, has arrived with much fanfare. Unfortunately people new to internet marketing believe too easily and the fanfare and quickly pull out their credit card without spending the time required to read reviews of these internet marketing, like this Keyword Elite review.

It was for this purpose that I went to the expense to purchase Keyword Elite for myself. I had to first register Keyword Elite after purchase through an email address. Luckily, having read the Keyword Elite literature I discovered that I could actually install Keyword Elite software on two computers (just in case one stops working for some reason or another).

I was surprised when I downloaded Keyword Elite that there were in actual fact five software programs located in Keyword Elite. These Keyword Elite software programs relate to using Keyword Elite for both Adsense and Adwords.

Here's a short rundown of the pros and cons of the Keyword Elite software programs included in the Keyword Elite download package.

Keyword Elite Software Pro 1 - it has a very user friendly interface.

Keyword Elite Software Pro 2 - the first program found in Keyword Elite quickly analyses Pay per click listings including Adwords. You can also use Keyword Elite for Adwords for analysing how many of your competitors there are in Google, Overture and Miva promoting the chosen keyword.

Keyword Elite Software Pro 3 - you can quickly use Keyword Elite to create a large list of up to 10,000 keywords. However, I would suggest you limit it initially to 100-500 keywords only as Keyword Elite will become very slow if it is searching for that many keywords.

Keyword Elite Software Pro 4 - use Keyword Elite for Adsense purposes. Keyword Elite allows you to create Adsense pages for your websites. With Keyword Elite you can search for the most lucrative Adsense keywords and then use Keyword Elite to create Adsense pages specifically targeted for the highest paying Adsense keywords.

Keyword Elite Pro 5 - use Keyword Elite to analyse the search engine optimization of specific high ranking websites. This is very useful tool for people seeking top 10 google rankings and high natural (free) search engine rankings.

Keyword Elite Pro 6 - Keyword Elite allows you to legally spy on your Adwords competitors. You can set up Keyword Elite to "legally" spy on Adwords competitors up to 3 times a day for given keywords. The secret is the longer their ads are running for for those keywords the more lucrative their campaign must be.

Keyword Elite Software Pro 7 - Keyword Elite comes with extensive support, manuals and forums support, manuals and also Keyword Elite video instructions.

Keyword Elite sofware Pro 8 - Keyword Elite comes with a risk free money back guarantee. This means you can purchase Keyword Elite and if for any reason you don't like it simply request a refund and you will receive a refund, no questions asked.

Keyword Elite Pro 9 - Keyword Elite updates are freely given after your purchase of Keyword Elite. Brad Callen makes every effort to improve his Keyword Elite software on a regular basis, taking in all the valuable feedback of Keyword Elite users. As I say, these Keyword Elite software updates are free and Keyword Elite users will constantly be notified of new versions of Keyword Elite available for immediate and free download whenever they start Keyword Elite.

Keyword Elite Pro 10 - Your Keyword Elite purchase may be tax deductible.

Keyword Elite Con 1 - Save your energy and don't utilize the keyword lists included in the Keyword Elite program. You will build a much better keyword list yourself.

Yes, free keyword tools are available online, however, if you are wanting to create an online income through either Adwords, Adsense or bum marketing then I highly recommend you download Keyword Elite and put it to immediate use.

As I have already reviewed, your Keyword Elite download not only comes with a money back guarantee but it also may be tax deductible.

Following my purchase of Keyword Elite I have used it extensively in my internet businesses and it is a key component in my internet businesses. I hope you have found this Keyword Elite review helpful.

However, a word of warning. I suggest that you DON'T download Keyword Elite without first checking out the free Keyword Elite program package recommended below where you will receive free of charge an exclusive Keyword Elite download package valued at $2610.00 to help you on your fast way to internet marketing profits. You won't find a better Keyword Elite deal anywhere else online.

Burgandy, France - Famous For Its Wines

The terroir is a group of vineyards or vines from the same area which have a common soil and climate. And nowhere else, other than Burgundy in France, is it held so fondly.

Burgundy is a region situated in central east France, which experiences bitter cold winters matched with beautiful warm summers. It is the home of 1.6 million inhabitants.

Burgundy (Bourgogne) is famous throughout the world for its wines. Spanning over 31,500 square kilometers (over 12,000 square miles), with a 360 km (225 mi) strip stretching 100km (60 mi) south of Paris, down from south of Dijon to north of Rhone, houses 99 different wine appellations.

Ranging from the vibrant red Pommard and Corton to the medium Beaune to the sparkling whites, the dry Chablis or Chassagne Montrachet, over 180 million bottles of some of the fines wines are made in this region.

As an aftermath of the French revolution the vineyards belonging to the monasteries were broken down to smaller plots which exist even today.

The finest quality wine, designated as Premier Cru is available from 600 of the vineyards in the region while 33 of them is credit to produce the even more classy Grand Cru wines. Among these the most renowned are Montrachet, Chambertin and Clos Vougeot.

Made from the pinot noir grapes, the burgundy red wines taste best with Boeuf Bourguignon or pheasant. On the other hand a Chablis or their sparkling white wines go best with anything from shrimps to goat cheese.

The famous white wine called Chablis derives its name from a village of the same name. These are dry whites with an acidity that refreshes. The special Chardonnay grapes thrive in limestone that has been made richer with remains of fossils.

As an accompaniment to lamb or grilled chicken, the best choice is the fruity-flavored, world famous Beaujolais made from the Gamay grape. These grapes grow in granite limestone.

The ever-popular and delicious red is grown in Volnay for the last 8 centuries. The grapes are Pinot Noir grown across 600 acres which is responsible in producing 1.3 million bottles of this amazing wine which has the flavors of raspberries and violets.

And then there is Meursault, located close by, famous for its Premier Cru labels of finest white wines. 2.5 million bottles of the finest wine, Chardonnay, aged anywhere between 3 to 15 years is grown in just over 1000 acres. Fish in white sauce go extremely well with this fine wine with its almond and apple flavors.

But what still makes the headlines is the red Pommard with its tannic and manly flavor, staging a comeback after many years of decline. From just 780 acres of Pinot Noir grown in limestone and red clay are produced 1.8 million bottles of this wine with the flavors of black cherry and black currant. Goes excellent with game venison and roasted red meat with Livarot cheese, these can age from 5 to 15 years.

Whatever your taste buds need, there is very little chance of returning home disappointed with a Burgundy.

Top Tips For Potty Training Accidents

It is inevitable that your child will have accidents when he or she is being potty trained. Be supportive, even when your child has not successfully used the toilet. With time, the accidents should become fewer and fewer until your child is completely potty trained and accidents are few and far between.

Its been a long time since you were in diapers. Parents often do not realize that their children have accidents simply because they think differently. A child cannot plan ahead the way adults do every day how many times, for example, do you jump in the car for a long trip with an older child and he or she needs to stop for a restroom less then ten minutes into the trip? Toddlers have an even shorter planning ability. They may hold it, thinking they can wait to use the potty when their television program or game is finished. Often, this is not the case, and the result is an accident.

Your child may also simply not realize he or she needs to use the potty. Even if your child has previously voiced the need to go to the restroom, other activities, such as being engrossed in play, can take your childs mind off bodily needs. Ask you child often if he or she needs to use the potty, just as you would ask him or her to drink water on a hot day.

Be consistent with potty training rules as well to prevent these accidents. Your child may be doing this on purpose to gauge your reaction. Accidents should never result in punishment, but be firm as to what your child can and cannot do until he or she is potty trained. Regular accidents are not OK if your child knows better and had previously been able to control his or her bathroom actions.

However, if your child is having regular accidents and is upset at this, consult your doctor. There may be medical reason as to when potty training is becoming more difficult, and sometimes, simple dietary changes can help you fix these problems. Most children have accidents up to 6 months after successful toilet training. If accidents continue, speak with your child about the situation. If he or she is deliberately causing accidents, you may wish to postpone potty training until he or she is more mature. Punishment in these situations rarely works, but dont let your child use potty training as a way of getting attention.

Accidents are normal. Although undesirable, remember to be supportive of your child as he or she is trying to learn to use the potty, even when theyre unsuccessful. Join an online support group if you find this process especially stressful. This, along with the multiple articles and tools for parents, can help you learn more techniques for potty training more quickly and avoiding accidents. Use accidents as a learning tool. As your child progresses in the potty training process, he or she will have fewer accidents. Dont be surprised if your child regresses after having made significant progresspotty training takes time and support and is often a case of two steps forward and one step back.

How a 21 Year Old Makes Enough Money To Go To College For Free

How many times have you stayed up to watch a late-night infomercial, explaining to how you could make millions doing hardly any work?

I know I used to watch them, hoping one day Id finally find something actually worth investing my time and money into.

Fortunately I never had to take the route of taking the advice of some expert who wanted $599 from me to learn the secrets of the trade. I found something much more powerful, much easier, and much cheaper. It also takes up much less of my time.

What Im talking about is a company called Site Build It! also known as SBI! (Yes, the exclamation point is supposed to be there).

The owner of this company is an absolute genius. He found a growing trend that of building websites online - and figured out the weaknesses of other hosting companies and online website building companies, and turned them into SBIs strengths.

You see, building a website online is one of the easiest and best things you can do to create yourself an extra stream of income. All you need is a little of your time, some knowledge about any topic youre interested in, and the help of SBI!

However youll still hear many complaints from people that theyve tried building websites online and it doesnt work anymore. Im here to tell you that the only reason they arent succeeding is because they dont have Site Build It!

Another complaint from website owners is that although they thought it would be cheap to set up a website, it really isnt. Website builders lure you into thinking that youll only pay for the website address and the hosting fees, but they forget to mention that youll need thousands of dollars worth of extra tools in order to do well. They also dont mention the fact that unless you have studied Internet marketing for hundreds of hours, you will probably have no idea what youre doing.

With SBI! its very different. For one, its an all inclusive package. You wont ever have to buy any other software or tools in order to make your website succeed. You wont need to devote hundreds of hours into learning how to build and market a website on the Internet. Using the very unique block-builder literally anybody can make a website.

When I came across this company, I was blown away. Finally, an answer to all my problems was right in front of my eyes. I had this underlying feeling inside me that was saying this is the opportunity youre looking for. After you learn more about the company, youll probably feel the same way.

So I decided to purchase the product. After all, it comes with a satisfaction guarantee which means that if youre not happy with it, you can get a refund at any time.

I spent some time watching their 10-day action guide in order to learn the basics, and I was ready to go. I researched a few passions of mine (using the amazing tools they provide to make it super-easy) and figured out what would be the most profitable.

So I started writing, adding graphics, and setting up the website. To be honest, I spent a lot of time on it in the beginning because I got addicted! I never thought I would enjoy writing as much as I do now.

My income has grown every month, and right now I make enough money each month to pay off my college loans that Ill have to start paying when I graduate college this year.

How would you like to pay your mortgage each month, even if you hardly work? Or how about just have more money to spend on your spouse, entertainment, your children, or to fund other investments?

As a testament to how powerful it is to have your own website, let me share this with you. I just got back from vacation a few days ago. I was gone for a week and had absolutely no access to a computer. When I got back I checked my stats and figured out that I made $135 while on vacation!

Another great thing about having your own website is that you get to share your passion with thousands of people. Its a great feeling knowing that youre the expert people come to if they have questions about your passion or hobby.

SBI! has changed my life in such a way that I cant explain it. Its taught me countless lessons, made me more passive income than I could have ever expected, and continues to make more money as times goes on. The SBI! community is the most amazing online community Ive ever been a part of, and the owner, Ken Evoy, is a phenomenal person.

I believe everything happens for a reason. That being said, I believe theirs a reason that you found and read this article. Thats why I encourage you to visit the website listed in my bio just below this article and check out the website for further details. Opportunities are missed everyday. Dont let today be one of those days.

Jeremy Reeves is a college student who was lucky enough to come across a company called Site Build It! Through them he has built a website that continues to earn him enough money to pay for his college tuition. You can read his story at http://www.crazyfortea.com/site-build-it.htmlHermione Blog76460

Doing Business In Kenya: Manufacturing Industry

Manufacturing sector is an area where investment opportunities exist. Initially developed under the import substitution policy, there has now been a shift to export oriented manufacturing as the thrust of Kenya's industrial policy. The sector plays an important role in adding value to agricultural output and providing forward and backward linkages, hence accelerating overall growth.

The manufacturing sector now comprises of more than 700 established enterprises and employs directly over, 218,000 persons as at the year 2000. A wide range of opportunities for direct and joint-venture investments exist in the manufacturing sector, including agro-processing, manufacture of garments, assembly of automotive components and electronics, plastics, paper, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, metal and engineering products for both domestic and export markets.

Paper Products

Kenya has an integrated pulp paper mill plant producing paper and paper board from renewable forest products. However, the country imports coated white lined chipboard and other boards for packaging, newsprint, printed paper and other types of paper. Investment opportunities exist in the production of paper from other raw materials such as bagasse, sisal waste, straw and waste paper.

Textiles and Apparels

Textile, Garment and Apparel manufacturing has a very high potential in Kenya. The basic raw material inputs such as dyes and chemicals are imported, as are all textile equipment and most spare parts. Investment opportunities exist under the Manufacturing Under Bond scheme and in the Export Processing zones for the production of items such as yarn and garments.

Metal and Engineering Works

Kenya has a basic metal sector making a variety of downstream products from local and imported steel scrap, steel billets and hot rolled coils. Kenya imports steel billets, coils, wire rod and wires, steel plates, sheets, steel scrap and pig iron. The country possesses a broad-based metal products sector with various independent engineering, foundry and metalwork workshops. Opportunities exist in the development of a nucleus foundry making precision castings that are then processed into precision components.

Vehicle Parts and Assembly

The motor vehicle component industry is rapidly developing to supply the needs of a few motor vehicle assemblers to meet certain local content requirements. Opportunities exist for manufacture of components for use by local assemblers for domestic market and for export to regional markets.

Electrical Equipment

Investment potential exists for the production of motors, circuit breakers, transformers, switch gears, irrigation pumps, capacitors, resistors, insulation tapes, electrical fittings and integrated circuit boards for both the domestic and export markets.

Electronics

Although Kenya's electronic industry is still at its infancy, a number of firms in the assembly, testing, repair and maintenance of electronic goods are in operation and are rapidly increasing their scope of activities to meet the growing demands of the industry.

Key opportunities for direct investments, joint-ventures and subcontracting exist in assembly of a wide range of electronic goods in Kenya, especially within the Manufacturing Under Bond scheme and Export Processing Zone Programmes.

These include the production of:

Consumer electronics, such as colour televisions, Video Cassette Recorders (VCRs), printers, floppy disk drives and Compact Disk Roms (CD-Rs);

Telecommunication equipment, such as printed circuit boards, and transmission equipment; and

Support items such as cables, cords, die casting and metal plating.

With a labour force which is well-equipped to meet the labour skill requirements for the industry and the relatively large domestic and export market potential of electronics in the region, Kenya offers an enormous potential for the manufacturing and assembly of electronic items.

Plastics, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals

The plastics industry in Kenya is well-developed and produces goods made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polythylene, polystyrene, and polypropylene. All materials are imported in the form of granules.

A large number of pharmaceutical formulations are produced locally in the form of tablets, syrups, capsules, and injectables, but the bulk of pharmaceuticals is imported. There is room for additional investment in the pharmaceutical industry.

Many attractive investment opportunities in chemicals, pharmaceuticals and fertilizers remain unexploited. These include the production of PVC granules from ethyl alcohol; fomaldehyde from methanol; melanine and urea; mixing and granulating of fertilizers; cuprous oxychloride for coffee bean disease; caustic soda and chlorine based products; carbon black; activated carbon; precipitated calcium carbonate; textile dyestuff; ink for ball-point pens; and gelatine capsules.

Mining and Mineral Products

Opportunities exist in the production of glass as the country is not self-sufficient. A few manufacturing units produce ceramic pottery and tiles, however, substantial quantities of ceramic pottery, tiles, sanitary-ware, and insulators are imported. Investment potential exists in prospecting and mining of other minerals such as gold, precious stones and petroleum.

Wood and Wood Products

Making use of renewable resources, investment opportunities exist for production of high quality and hand carved furniture for export, high density board from saw dust for the domestic market, high quality veneers, wooden toys, sporting goods such as cricket bats and rackets for export, and other specialty items. Recognizing the importance of environmental preservation, the Government pursues an active re-afforestation programme.

Bluetooth is one of the key technologies that can help to make the mobile information society happen, by blurring the possibilities between home, the office, and the outside world.

The seamless integration and connectivity that Bluetooth promises will make it possible to explore a wide range of interactive and highly transparent personalized services which were actually quite difficult to dream of simply because of the complexity involved with making such devices communicate with each other.

Many Bluetooth pilot products have already been rolled into the market and backed by big vendors, which is a healthy sign for the overall acceptance of the technology. The support for Bluetooth isn't limited to companies that develop only Bluetooth enabled products.

The applications for Bluetooth can have great impacts on other industries as well. The adoption of Bluetooth technology is expected to spread throughout the industry of computers.

Unlike infrared technology, Bluetooth is used by many different wireless devices. Bluetooth offers exceptional quality for short range wireless, even going through walls and obstructions. While infrared is the biggest competitor at this time, Bluetooth far surpasses it, proving to millions that it is the wireless communication technology of the present day and age.

In the beginning, Bluetooth started with version 1.0, then gradually moved from there. The current version is 2.0+EDR, with another version currently in development. The technology behind the Bluetooth specification always getting better and better, which is why it's so popular.

Creating a Modern Kitchen Design During Cabinet Refacing

If youve dreamed of a smooth, uncluttered look for your kitchen design, its time to put that dream into action. There are many ways to incorporate this kitchen style during a cabinet refacing project.

Check Overall Kitchen Design

To create a contemporary kitchen, all or most of the major elements of your kitchen design should adhere to that style. While many people create eclectic mixes of contemporary and traditional styling, that approach will not work if the goal is a true contemporary kitchen design. Instead look for contemporary styles of the following elements:

* Kitchen cabinets.
* Countertop.
* Kitchen appliances.
* Kitchen flooring.
* Wall tile.
* Cabinet hardware.

Kitchen Cabinets Set the Tone

The kitchen cabinet style you select will go a long way toward creating a contemporary kitchen design. When planning a cabinet refacing, look for cabinet doors and drawers with:

* Flat fronts and limited detailing.
* No crown molding.
* Sleek materials, such as laminate.

Spice Up Kitchen Design With Modern Appliances

Nothing says contemporary like stainless steel appliances. Look for a sleek side-by-side refrigerator and commercial range to blend with your refaced cabinets. Also look for:

* Thin stainless steel appliance door handles.
* Limited detailing on appliance doors and knobs.
* Shiny stainless steel appliances -- not more subtle matte finishes.

Contemporary Kitchen Countertop Styles

Many contemporary kitchen designs feature edgy countertop surfaces, such as:

* Stainless steel to blend with stainless steel appliances. Carry the metal look on the backsplash for a dramatic look.
* Concrete this rough, hard surface has an urban look. Look for natural, honed concrete or a painted surface for an added touch.
* Granite countertops a perennial favorite in many kitchen designs. Try sharp black for a contemporary look.

Kitchen Cabinet Hardware is Finishing Touch

The cabinet knobs and pulls you select should add the finishing touch to your contemporary kitchen design. Try adding styles that have minimal detailing and a sleek, edgy look. Among the options are stainless steel, thin pulls and crisp, round knobs in aluminum.

When planning a cabinet refacing project, look for ways to change your kitchen design. If youve always wanted a dramatic, contemporary kitchen design, look for ways to incorporate the style into your new kitchen design.

Foods for Healthy Skin: What Vitamins and Minerals are Good for Your Skin?

When it comes to our skin, what we eat is very important. Skin is the biggest organ, and it deserves all the nutrition we can give it.

One the most critical elements of skin health is vitamin A, and one of the best sources of this vitamin is low-fat dairy products. As a matter of fact, the health of our skin depends on vitamin A. Low-fat yogurt is high in vitamin A. Other excellent sources of vitamin A include cod liver oil, carrots, leafy vegetables, sweet potatoes and fortified breakfast cereals.

You also need to eat foods rich in antioxidants, such as blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and plums. The benefits of these fruits for healthy skin are considerable. The antioxidants found in these fruits can protect the skin cells. As a result, there is less chance for damage.

This in turn protects against early aging and skin looks younger. Other fruits and vegetables that are rich in antioxidants include artichokes, black, red, and pinto beans, pecans and prunes.

Essential fatty acids are vital to your skin. You should include salmon, walnuts, canola oil, and flax seed. Essential fatty acids keep cell membranes healthy, and allow nutrients to pass through.

We also need healthy oils. Eating good-quality oils helps keep skin lubricated and keeps it healthier overall. Try to find oils that are cold pressed, such as olive or extra virgin oil. Our bodies only need approximately 2 tablespoons a day of healthy oils.

Selenium plays a crucial role in the health of skin cells. Eat foods like whole-wheat bread, cereals, muffins, turkey, tuna and brazil nuts. Latest studies discovered that if selenium levels are high, even skin damaged by the sun will only suffer negligible harm.

Processed and refined sugars can instigate inflammation that may eventually lead to skin break outs. Green tea has anti-inflammatory properties, and it protects the membrane of the cell. Green tea also plays an important role in the prevention of skin cancer.

Water has an enormous effect on the health of your skin. Healthy and young-looking skin is also a well-hydrated skin.

Make Money With Your Music In Films Just By Talking To People

Licensing you music into films is a great extra income stream for you as an independent artist. But, as with any other aspect of the music business, you have to go through the learning curve and networking process. My experience with film licensing, just like everything else, revolves around whom you know.

Your first (or tenth) licensing deal probably wont be the next Hollywood blockbuster, but thats ok. There are a zillion independent films that need and want your music. No, you wont be immediately rich and famous from having a song in an indie film, but you will probably get paid, and youll get some good exposure. Remember, a good ling music career is not built on one big hit. Its built on a series of small projects and successes building to bigger ones, and, of course, multiple streams of income.

With that in mind, independent films are a great place to start. So where do you begin? Well, listing sites like Versus Media, Film Music Network, and Taxi are a good place to start, but its hard to rely on a steady income from people youve never met. Also, something Ive learned recently from a couple of music supervisors, is that follow up on your package is not required, nor particularly appreciated. So you really are relying on your package and your music being picked out of the pile. However, the listing services will give you access to projects you may not have known about otherwise. They are, therefore, a good investment.

An even better way to hook into independent films is to go out and meet film people. As musicians we tend to get stuck in our own little world. Hanging out with musicians, going to music workshops and events, etc. You must take your product to the people who need it instead of waiting for them to come to you.

A great place to start is Indie Club. This is a worldwide organization of independent filmmakers, actors, crew, and everyone else. Find your local chapter through the IndieClub.com website. Its free to join. Where I am, San Francisco, we have the countrys largest chapter. Join their discussion list and introduce yourself as a music artist. Go to their meetings and get-togethers. When I went to my first Indie Club meeting, I was one of two music artists in the room. The cries of We need you! were not just the voices in my head (this time). That room full of independent filmmakers was looking for good music that they could license and still stay within their budget.

I scored my first licensing deal within an hour. Two songs in the same film, one Id already written, the other to be written specifically for the movie. My tactic was simple. Ask them about their latest project. Theyll be happy to tell you about it, I assure you. Theyll ask what you do. Tell them, but dont exaggerate. I explained that I had not yet written for films, but just came to see where I fit in. This particular filmmaker then explained to me that he couldnt find a particular song for this one scene he was working on. I told him Id be happy to custom write it for him. And there it was. I was being paid up front to write a song. How much? I received $100 for the new song, $50 for the previously written and recorded one. Like I said, you wont get rich off of these. But hey, $50 to let him use a song that Id paid for long ago is free money to me.

For the new song, the director arranged for recording time at the local recording arts school where his sound editor was studying. This was fortuitous, and not necessarily normal. Most other project I have to record myself. Because I kept the copyright for the song (which you should always try to do), I was able to release the new song on one of my future CDs, which put more money in my pocket. Theres that multiple streams of income again. And, as a topper, I was able to perform at the premier and sell more CDs there as well. I got all that just for showing up to a meeting and talking to people. I made a few other deals at that meeting too.

So the moral of the story is to just go where filmmakers are and talk to them. Besides Indie Club, Im sure there are other film clubs and organizations in your area. Find them and make yourself a part of them. Get to know everyone, and you have your tunes in the movies in no time!

Next time: How to get your music in movies by getting yourself in movies!

Phil Johnson and his band Roadside Attraction know that life just isn't that serious, and there's always someone more screwed up than you. And they've got the songs to prove it. Hear all about them at http://www.RoadsideAttraction.com.Frankie Blog54304

Is a Walk-In Shower in Your Future?

If a man could simply drop his shorts and walk in to a shower, would he be inclined to take one more often? Perhaps he would if he could see something tantalizing waiting for him on the other side. And what about a woman? Could a glass enclosed, high-tech shower help wash away the stresses of her day? Could it perhaps even make her a bit more risqu?

These are compelling questions and one way to find out the answers is to install a walk-in shower and see what happens. Walk-in showers are THE latest trend in bathroom decorating. Theyre sleek, contemporary, and practically maintenance-free and right now theyre more affordable than ever.

When it comes to the bathroom, too many people take this room for granted. As long as the bathroom is functional and houses the essentials, most wont give this part of the home much thought. And thats a mistake. Go take a look at your bathroom. Are you happy with what you see? Is it soothing and relaxing? If its appearance is somewhat sterile or worse, if its seriously outdated, its time to turn your attention in that direction. Its time you give that room a makeover.

Need even more reasons to take the plunge, so to speak? Here are not one but six compelling reasons why Brits are falling in love with the walk-in shower.

Walk-in showers lend an air of luxury to the morning routine.

And luxury is what todays bathroom is all about. No longer is the bath being thought of as simply the place to take care of routine, mundane business. Its now THE place to go for pampering. With a walk-in shower as the centerpiece of the bath, itll be easier than ever to find coordinating fixtures no matter what your decorating style. You can accessorise to your hearts content with stainless steel, brushed nickel, silver or chrome taps, wall-mounted mirrors, luxuriously absorbent towels, aromatherapy candles and more. Youre in total charge of creating the type of escape you long for; one thats functional but best of all, one thats reminiscent of the 5-star accommodations at your favorite holiday hide-away.

Walk-in showers allow room for showering with a mate.

Take a moment to let your mind wander here and just imagine the possibilities. Go ahead, be adventurous. What a great way to break out of the bedroom rut and add a bit of excitement to your life! And if those kinds of thoughts are too much for your innocent mind, just think about the water youll conserve when showering together. Youll be doing your part for the environment while at the same time you can be setting the stage for lots of exciting things to come.

Walk-in showers raise the resale value of your home.

When it comes to a homes value, youll almost always get the maximum return on your investment when you update the kitchen and the bathroom. A frameless, clear-glass walk-in shower will instantly update the look of any bathroom, no matter how old. Walk-in showers create a more spacious environment, which is a terrific benefit especially when space is already limited. This popular look is trendy yet timeless meaning you wont have to worry about the money you invest the walk-in shower you install today will look good even 10 years from now!

Walk-in showers are easier to clean.

You wont have to spend another moment inhaling harsh chemicals while laboriously attempting to remove built-up mold and mildew from shower curtains and doors. Simply wipe down the glass when youre finished and youre done. Youre busy enough already so anything that helps cut cleaning time is a blessing. Youll likely be even more inclined to keep the walk-in shower area clean so that youre assured a crystal-clear view of whats waiting for you on the other side.

Walk-in showers are easier for the old and young to use.

When you install a wet floor shower, you wont have to step over any raised edges to get inside which greatly increases mobility. The safety aspect alone is the deciding factor for many. The addition of a seat and a flexible hose with hand-held showerhead means that showering will no longer be an unbearable task. Children love walk-in showers, too. And guess what? The more they enjoy taking a shower, the more inclined theyll be to do it!

Walk-in showers are easy to retrofit into an existing bath area.

Installation is possible (and not that difficult) even on out of true walls. Walk-in showers can be installed in any recessed area or in any corner. With easy-to-follow instructions included with every walk-in shower, do-it-yourselfers can handle most installations without hiring a contractor. You likely wont need to hire a plumber, either!

So there you have it several reasons why you should consider installing a walk-in shower. Youll benefit, your home will benefit and quite possibly, your love life might benefit, too!

Business Degree Online

Business Degree Online is basically a virtual college school where people earn college credits, masters, even doctorate without going to school, attending classes or sitting in classrooms. It commonly uses Distant Learning Programs (DLP) through the Internet to transmit and convey lessons, assignments and even exams. Eventually, a business degree online enrollee gets his or her diploma after completing the required units and eventually is considered a graduate, and can apply for the job he or she is most qualified to. The choice to pursue higher degree (online) is also possible right after getting the credits.

It is a type of education, typically college-level, where students work on their own at home or at the office and communicate with faculty and other students via e-mail, electronic forums, videoconferencing, chat rooms, bulletin boards, instant messaging and other forms of computer-based communication.

Most distance learning programs include a computer-based training (CBT) system and communications tools to produce a virtual classroom. Because the Internet and World Wide Web are accessible from virtually all computer platforms, they serve as the foundation for many distance learning systems
